Neonlight

Always in search of the better sound and an accomplished composition NEONLIGHT devises every song individually. They are not setting any musical or temporary borders until everything fits perfectly and they are pleased to decide that they again finalized a new piece of good music.

Releases and other work

A flush of enthusiasm accompanied their release of “Wave” on Ammunition recordings in the summer of 2009. After the collaboration with Kiro & Rolar, the ‘Blackout EP’ released on Trust In Music (including Apex´s Remix of ‘Epidemic’) finally made their international debut.

First remix requests did not keep waiting for too long and plenty of them had been transposed in 2010. It did not take long before many remix requests arrived in the Neonlight inbox and and a lot of these projects took shape in 2010. In the process a lot of effort went into producing a remix not only as a simple copy with new beats, but to create a complete new remix without displacing the original attributes. The work that got most attention was ‘Little Green Men’ as an original by Rico & Scoop, which was released on ‘Dangerous New Age’.

It found many admirers among artists like Prolix, Optiv, Bad Company, The Panacea and others, who played this track around the world (to the big delight and surprise of the guys). More releases like ‘Strange Days’ (Celerity & Doppler/ Abducted), ‘Crossed Roots’ (Giana Brotherz/ Giana Brotherz) und ‘Evil Has No Boundaries’ (Cativo/ Ammunition) followed.

Optiv and Blokhe4d had been the first grandeurs in the scene, who were looking for a collaboration with NEONLIGHT. Along with the remix of Optiv’s ‘Run it Red’ (Red Light) they set a new benchmark for future activities. Without merely one exception, pretty much all the respected Drum and Bass DJs like Dieselboy, Black Sun Empire, Audio, State of Mind and The Panacea started to play this remix. Another remarkable success stood in a close context with a sad and sharp break from the boys’ former life. They cooperated with Hedj from Augsburg/ Germany who passed away in a tragic accident. Out of this cooperation tracks like ‘Hammerhead’ (Red Light) and ‘System Error’ (Trust In Music) arouse and enthused both DJs and fans in the Drum & Bass scene. Not only the business they shared, but a short and close friendship will always be treasured in the memory of NEONLIGHT.

The year 2011 started immediately with further musical highlights.  Releases were up for ‘Nothing Is Safe’ with Hackage on the Label ‘Close 2 Death’. Shortly after the last corporate track of NEONLIGHT and Hedj, ‘Joker’, was released on the ‘Hedj & Friend EP’ (Bad Taste Recordings). In spring the long-expected 12” with the famous boom tracks ‘Contraire’ and ‘Ultraviolet’, which were released on Bad Taste Recordings as well, finally followed. Furthermore a remix of New Zealand’s hottest Drum n Bass export State of Mind appeared on a remix EP from their album ‘Nil by Ear’. Other releases like ‘The Frozen Tape’ (Trust In Music), Audio´s Remix of ’Nothing Is Safe‘ (Close 2 Death)  and NEONLIGHTs Remix from ‘Giant Warrior’ (Scary & Bad Matter/ Close 2 Death) are just in work to be finally played in the clubs.

Beyond producing both are nationally and internationally in great demand. But they always set a huge value on creating each set differently and with loving attention to detail. And if necessary for this ambition, they arrive with 4 decks and 2 mixing desks. For the upcoming months projects with Optiv, Axiom, Fourward, Inside Info, DaVIP and Cause4Concern are scheduled. Not to mention the collaboration with Wintermute and sH1, both from Leipzig. With them they are curious to work out more experimental and deeper-sounding productions, in which no melodic boundaries will be set.

NEONLIGHT

Die Künstler

NEONLIGHT ist die Fusion zweier sehr unterschiedlicher Charaktere, die neben einer gemeinsamen Kindheit vor allem eines gemeinsam haben: Die Leidenschaft für Drum & Bass.

Ende der 90er hatten sie sich musikalisch gefunden und erste Erfahrungen mit Musiksoftware in Drum & Bass-Producing gesammelt. Eigene Veranstaltungen waren eine gute Plattform, die Songs auf ihre Tauglichkeit zu testen, sowie Kontakte zu anderen DJs und Produzenten herzustellen. Die sehr gute Resonanz war der Antrieb, sich weiter zu entwickeln und tiefer in die Materie einzutauchen.

Immer auf der Suche nach ‚dem besseren Sound’ und ‚dem vollkommenen Arrangement’ arbeiten NEONLIGHT jeden Song neu aus, setzen sich keine klanglichen und zeitlichen Grenzen, bis alles stimmig ist und sie zufrieden feststellen können, wieder ein Stück gute Musik produziert zu haben.

Veröffentlichungen / Projekte

Die erste Welle der Begeisterung wurde im Sommer 2009 durch „Wave“ (Ammunition) ausgelöst. Die Zusammenarbeit mit Kiro & RolaR, für die auf Trust In Music erschienen „The Blackout EP“ (inklusives Apex´s Remix von „Epidemic“), brachte NEONLIGHT endgültig auf internationales Parkett.

Die ersten Remix-Anfragen ließen nicht lang auf sich warten und wurden 2010 auch zu genüge umgesetzt. Dabei legten beide enormen Wert darauf, nicht einfach eine Kopie mit abgeänderten Beats und Bassstrukturen zu erstellen. Sie brachten ihre volle Energie in jeden Remix ein, um ein neues Musikstück zu schaffen, ohne markante Teile der Originale zu verbannen. Dabei stach ein Remix besonders heraus: „Little Green Men“  im Original von Rico & Scoop, released auf Dangerouse New Age, sorgte für mächtig Aufsehen in der Szene. Künstler wie Prolix, Bad Company, Optiv, The Panacea und viele andere spielten den Track zur Freude beider. Weitere Remixe waren: “Strange Days” (Celerity & Doppler/ Abducted), “Crossed Roots” (Giana Brotherz/ Giana Brotherz) und “Evil Has No Boundaries” (Cativo / Ammunition).

Optiv und Blokhe4d waren die ersten Größen der Szene, welche die enge Zusammenarbeit mit NEONLIGHT suchten. Mit dem Remix von Optiv´s „Run it Red“ (Red Light) setzten sie einen neuen Maßstab für ihre zukünftigen Arbeiten. Nahezu alle Top DJs spielten ihren Remix (Dieselboy, Black Sun Empire, Audio, State Of Mind, The Panacea,…).

Weitere beachtliche Erfolge, die gleichzeitig mit einen sehr traurigen persönlichen Einschnitt im Zusammenhang stehen, war die Zusammenarbeit mit dem auf tragische Weise ums Leben gekommenen Hedj aus Augsburg. Tracks wie „System Error“ (Trust In Music) und „Hammerhead“  (Red Light) fanden sehr großes Interesse bei DJs und Fans aus der Szene. Neben der sehr erfolgreichen Zusammenarbeit war es vor allem eine kurze aber intensive Freundschaft, die Ihnen in Erinnerung bleibt.

Das Jahr 2011 startete gleich mit mehreren musikalischen Highlights. Es standen Releases von „Nothing Is Safe“ mit Hackage auf dem Label Close 2 Death an und kurze Zeit später wurde das letzte gemeinsame Werk von Hedj und NEONLIGHT „Joker“ auf der „Hedj & Friends EP“ (Bad Taste Recordings) veröffentlicht. Im Frühjahr 2011 folgte auch die langerwartete 12“ mit den Dancefloor Krachern „Contraire“ und „Ultraviolet“ welche ebenfalls auf Bad Taste Recordings erschien. Als vorerst letzter Release ist ein Remix für Neuseelands top Drum & Bass Export State Of Mind auf einer Remix EP zu ihrem neuem Album ‚Nil by Ear‘ erschienen.
Weitere Releases wie “The Frozen Tape” (Trust In Music), Audio´s Remix von “Nothing Is Safe” (Close 2 Death) und NEONLIGHTs Remix von “Giant Warrior” (Scary & Bad Matter/ Close 2 Death) stehen an.

Über das Produzieren hinaus sind beide nunmehr national als auch international sehr gefragte DJs. Sie sind stets darum bemüht, jedes Set abwechslungsreich und mit viel Liebe zum Detail zu gestalten. Nicht selten reisen sie für diesen Zweck mit 4 Decks und 2 Mixer an.

Für die kommenden Monate sind Projekte u.a. mit Optiv, Axiom, Fourward, Inside Info, DaVIP und Cause4Concern geplant. Nicht zu vergessen ist die Zusammenarbeit mit den Leipziger Künstlern Wintermute und sH1. Dabei liegt das Augenmerk auf tiefere und experimentellere Produktionen, welchen keine klanglichen Grenzen gesetzt werden.
